実際の液滴の形状に近い 接触角 解析の測定公式です。滴下した液滴左右端部を含む等間隔３点を球の一部と仮定し液滴左右端部における 接触角（左右および平均）を表すものです。液滴左右端部の 接触角 は独立して計測されるため 傾斜法 による 前進後退 接触角、拡張収縮 接触角 の計測が可能です。株式会社エキシマの 接触角計 は液滴上の輪郭および端点を検出し高度なアルゴリズムで左右の接触角をリアルタイムで解析します。

This is a measurement formula for contact angle analysis that closely approximates the actual shape of the droplet. It assumes that three equidistant points—including the left and right edges of the dispensed droplet—form part of a sphere, and it calculates the contact angles (left, right, and average) at those edges. Since the contact angles at the left and right edges are measured independently, it is possible to measure advancing/receding contact angles and expanding/contracting contact angles using the tilting method. Excima Corporation’s contact angle meters detect the droplet’s contour and endpoints, using advanced algorithms to analyze the left and right contact angles in real time.

最も基本的な 接触角 の測定公式です。サンプル上に滴下した水滴の形状を真円と仮定し新円の半径と高さからθ=2arctan h/r　の公式で 接触角 が求まります。また液滴の左右端点と頂点を結ぶ直線の、固体表面に対する角度を求め、これを2倍することでも算出できます。簡単に求められるのですが水滴左右の 接触角 が同じになるので 傾斜法 による 前進後退 接触角 などは計ることができません。

This is the most fundamental formula for measuring contact angle. By assuming the water droplet on the sample is a perfect circle, the contact angle (θ) can be calculated using the formula θ = 2arctan(h/r) based on the radius and height of that circle. Alternatively, it can be calculated by determining the angle that the line connecting the droplet’s apex to its left and right edges makes with the solid surface, and then doubling that value. While this method is simple, it assumes the contact angles on the left and right sides of the droplet are identical; consequently, it cannot be used to measure advancing and receding contact angles via the tilting method.
